D2224 is a polyamine liquid additive that acts as a clay hydration inhibitor by inserting and reducing the space between clay platelets so that water molecules do not penetrate and cause shale swelling. The additive effectively inhibits the hydration of shale or Gumbo clay and minimizes the possibility of packing the bit. D2224 can be directly added into the mud system, which has no effect on its viscosity and filtration performance, and still has good inhibition performance at low concentration.
